FAMILY LIAISON COUNSELLOR (FLC)

Supporting families of the ill, injured, and fallen.


WHAT IS A FAMILY LIAISON COUNSELLOR?

The FLC is a civilian Registered Social Worker (RSW) who liaises with the Mental Health & Well-Being Team at the Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre (H&R MFRC) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Transition Centre (TC).


WHO MAY ACCESS THE FLC’S SERVICES?

In partnership with the Transition Centre, the FLC serves family members and persons of significance to:

  • Ill and injured CAF members (Regular Force and Reservists)
  • Fallen members
  • Medically releasing members

  • HOW CAN THE FLC HELP?

    The FLC provides a supportive, confidential environment to discuss the family’s situation. Together, they will develop a personalized plan that may include:

  • Counselling
  • Advocacy
  • Referrals
  • Child care options
  • Short-term accommodations
  • Financial resources
